Week 202-3 “Happy Mothers Day”

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and expectant mothers out there on the net. Jill is excited because it will be the first time out since she has been home from hospital, she doesn’t count the visits to the doctor. We are going out to a local restaurant for lunch. Michael arrived home Saturday afternoon with Gus and I think Gus seems to miss Jake. Allison & her Chris are coming over today.

Gus & Michael

We had some bad news just after our last Blog – The vet rang to say Jake had also developed pneumonia and they had reached a point where a decision had to be made. I went to the clinic and nursed him for a while and it was evident he was in considerable distress even with the pain killers and medication. Finally the vet said it was time and Jake went to sleep in my arms. I brought him home and we buried him in the garden. We have missed him very much and there are lots of times I have gone out the back to call him. Even Jessie misses him and has taken to sleeping in his bed which I couldn’t bring myself to get rid of.

Jill has continued to improve – but I guess it will be a long process. She has her good days when the exercises are easy and her walking appears to be on the improve, and then we have a day like Friday when the pain and everything feels not worth continuing. I am glad that Saturday was totally different and the fact that Michael was coming sparked her up. Our days consist of shower and then a range of exercises that she does the bed which takes about an hour then a walk to the kitchen and morning tea. More exercises while she is seated at the table. After lunch she watches Dr Phil and Oprah. Another walk to the bedroom to repeat the bed exercises. Followed by a short rest and out to Jill’s Gym where she walks in the parallel bars, cycles and she then climbs the first step which she repeats several times. The day disappears and finally we are back in bed waiting for the next day.

She is determined to be able to use the walker when our grand child arrives. Taliha our Physio and her assistant Shirley have been here twice a week and they have given Jill an exercise program with the aim of getting to see the baby.

We have finally got our ramps completed, the one that leads to the Gym and finally yesterday the one to our front door. Jill is certain she will not need them so to the naked eye they are permanent but have been constructed in such a way to be removable.

It is so hard when you lose a pet. It is amazing how much your other pets also miss them.

I am always thinking of you and Jill and the courage and determination you show. I hope that knowing there are people wishing you all the best helps a little with the burden.

    Hi
Did you have stem cell surgery? Are you seeing improvements. Whereabouts did you go to get it done?

My Mum’s chin basically rests on her chests and her neck kills her, it is extremely hard for her to move her head back, all the muscles have tightened in this position, it makes it hard for her to even see around the room she is in.

She is having great difficulty walking and needs someone to walk with her with her walker. She has had several falls, and her muscles are all wasting away. It is becoming progressively difficult to understand what she says. In the mornings she is the worst, and can hardly lift her cup of tea to her mouth. I am just now looking into stem cell surgery as a possible option for her and would love any information you can shed on the topic.
