Week 164-5 ” Back home to recuperate”

Same as usual another couple of weeks have passed and a few phone calls to see where the Blogg was. We seem to have been busy and I have no idea where the days have gone.

The hospital rang and said mum was ready to go back to St Catherine’s and that I should pick her up at 11 am. Fortunately Michael was still here and using his car we collected her. She was unable to walk so a wheel chair was arranged at both ends. She had no real idea where she was or going. However once back in her room she was more settled. I left them to settler her in and said I would be back later in the afternoon. When I arrived about 4 they were dressing her leg and we were shocked at the condition. Mum’s doctor was contacted and he was to be there next morning. He was also extremely disappointed that she had been discharged from hospital and changed her medication and added some stronger pain killers to her list. He would check on her later in the week. The staff at St Cath’s has worked at getting her legs dressed every second day. Friday evening I had a phone call from mum’s doctor who said that he was sorry about mum’s condition and there was not much that could be done. The medication was obviously reducing her discomfort and by the Sunday she was feeling much better (Oxycontin had kicked in).

Sunday was a big day she had several visitors which finally took its toll. Her first visitors were Greg & Sandra. This delighted her no end. They talked about their family and showed her some old photos which helped her reminisce her past. By the end of the day she was very tired. I received a call form St Cath’s on Monday and the suggestion was made that they move mum down stairs so that it was easier to manager her . Wednesday I moved all mum’s things to room 10 which is an identical room with a window that looks out onto the garden courtyard. While all this was being done mum was having her hair done. The nurse who has been dressing her legs said she was very happy with the progress and even though it may take some months to fully repair she was confident they could achieve this. She is not all that happy with being moved, says the room is different; lights are not as good, missing the friends she made from upstairs etc.

With all this we have not been doing all the exercise that we should, Jill is finding the Crazy exercise machine (Vibration unit) hard on her knees and has had to stop using it for a while. Even walking out and back to the gym is a little more difficult. Finding that once she has walked out, done the exercises she is extremely tired and finding it difficult to walk back in. next Monday we will have a new physio calling. This is the first time since last year. It has been fairly difficult to arrange as she is only working two days per week.

Next week end we are supposed to be going to Chris’s as I am enrolled in a 4WD training course. Obviously this will depend on things here. I will need to make my mind up early.

Still working on the Family tree – on Jill’s side we have all the information back to her Great grand Parents –(George Sutton and Martha Roberts married 1863 in Wexford County Ireland)– lived at Springdallah, Cape Clear, and Pitfield near Ballarat from around 1864 when their first child was born.. We are working on finding when they arrived in Australia and the name of the Ship. On my side it is strange the information that appears – Mark Dodd sent me an article he had found in the Police gazette 1897.

Barry rang Jill to let her know Rebekka had given birth to a boy – Teague Thomas another reason for Jill to feel envious.

CONGRATULATIONS: TOM, REBEKKA and JUDE on the arrival of TEAGUE THOMAS.

Must get lunch – see you next week on the net.
